Small problems with plaster and stonework rarely stay small. A crack lets water in, the water does its damage, and before long a quick fix has turned into a bigger job. Catching it early saves money and hassle. Most of our repair work starts with someone noticing a hairline crack or a damp patch and wondering if it matters. Usually it does.

Plaster and render repairs

We fix cracked, blown and damaged plaster inside and out, from a patch where a fitting was removed to sections of render that have come away from the wall. We match the repair to what is already there so it blends in once it is painted. Blown plaster, the kind that sounds hollow when you tap it, usually needs to come off and be redone rather than patched over.

Repointing stone and brick

Mortar joints wear away over time, and once they go, water gets into the wall. We rake out the old, failing mortar and repoint with the right mix for the wall. On older stone and brick buildings that almost always means lime mortar, because hard cement pointing traps moisture and damages the stone or brick around it.
